LET IT GO

Intro: (Instrumental Verse)

I wish we were together here
Cause now I see it all so clear
And we could smile and say hello
And we could let it go.

I’m tired of stayin’ up all night
Don’t wanna see the morning light
I’ve gotta stop digging holes
Got to let it go.

Chorus:

Sometimes living life, seems so easy
Floating like a leaf on a stream
I wish I could remember just how I did it
Those memories just seem like a dream.
We were drifting like a cloud in the sky
I wish we never said good-bye
And never let it go

I wish that we could just forget
And pretend somehow that we just met
We could start again real slow
And we could let it go.

Bridge:
I keep thinking back to the times I held you
Making love all night and day
We spent a lot of time trying to make our love work.
I wish that you’d decided to stay
I didn’t want to let you go
We never should have let it go.
Never let it go.

Chorus:

Instrumental Verse:

Chorus and outro:

This is a really fun song for me to play and sing. It’s a breakup song, sure, but it’s also a pretty revealing song about me! I do feel like I float along “like a leaf on a stream”. It’s sort of a Forrest Gump type lyric. To me the verses are the guy wishing he could go back and change things, but of course he can’t. I could totally make a music video for this song. It’s probably the bounciest break-up song I’ve ever heard. I like that the refrain “let it go” has multiple meanings in the song.
