STORIES

(Capo 4th Fret)

Intro:

You tell me sad stories you tell me big lies
Everything should be fine but I trust my own eyes
You look over your shoulder who is there?
And then you look thru me like you don’t really care.

Chorus:
You’re walking in shadows
Running in darkness
Hiding in corners
I know that it’s hopeless

Intro
We drove to the city to have a good time
We had us some laughs and we had us some wine
Then you started flirting - but not with me
So I stood and walked out - now you are free

Go walk in the shadows
Go run in your darkness
Go hide in your corner

Brian Murray and I wrote the music to this in about 1973 when we were in some bands together in High School. It’s a funk song. The original title was “Why Don’t I Leave You”. I was hoping for a wah wah pedal on this song, similar to other funk songs from the 70’s, like Shaft, Superfly and Papa Was A Rolling Stone. I initially played electric guitar on this song, but ended up playing my Taylor. It’s funny, I usually play my acoustic guitars seated, but I play my electric standing. Fred pretty much went wild with the wah-wah and I’m really happy how this has turned out. Evan Suiter, who plays bass on this, wrote the horn arrangement, which is another first for one of my songs.
