The Love You Bring

THE LOVE YOU BRING

Intro: (Instrumental Verse)

After all this time and we’re together still
Can’t find the right words, probably never will
But that don’t mean a thing
The love you always bring
This empty heart that you have always filled

Chorus:
These things I need to say,
They can’t wait another day
It’s hard for me, you know I try
I hope you see it in my eyes

Our friends all think we’ve had an easy time
-But love don’t work that way, not yours or mine
We know just what to do
All the times we’ve gotten through
We found a way to keep our love alive

Chorus:

Instrumental verse

I’m looking forward to the years to come
A gift to be with you, our lives as one
The kindness you show me
You smile so easily
Can’t wait ‘till later when this day is done.

Chorus

Instrumental outro

This is by far my favorite song that I’ve written. This story is about things that Leslie knows about me, but that I haven’t been able to always articulate. The chord progression is nice, it just flows together. This song didn’t have a lot of editing, it came out pretty much fully formed. Leslie did help me edit it, though, otherwise I’d have sole authorship. The original second line of the song went, “I don’t understand you, probably never will”, but I changed it to “I can’t find the right words, probably never will”. Either would work. Leslie didn’t write any of the complete lines that I sing about her. Yes, this is totally about Leslie and what she means to me.
