WAITING FOR YOU

(Double Drop D Tuning)

Intro (first 4 lines of verse)

I’ve been imprisoned, by my loneliness
And you broke it all down
Your love and tenderness is healing my soul
Since you’ve been around
All my life I have been tryin’
To leave this emptiness behind
Just waitin’ for you
I was waiting for you.

Yeah, the moments that I’m without you
They seem like days
And the passion when we’re together
Leaves me amazed
All the heartaches deep inside
I was barely left alive
Waitin’ for you
I was waiting for you.

Instrumental verse

Facing the new day, with us together
Feeling faith in love
It’s like the dark clouds have been lifted
Blue skies above
My heart and soul are now alive
And our love will start to thrive
Now that I have you
Now that I have you

All the night’s I’ve spent alone
The empty hours that are gone
I was waiting for you. I was waiting for you.

Outro

The music for this was written on an October 15, in the late 1970’s. I had to trash the original lyrics as they were bad. The new lyrics were written by Leslie and me in May, 2021. Leslie wrote most of them, we used a few of the bones from the original lyrics, but this is mostly Leslie. It’s a fairly straight forward song about being rescued. It’s hopeful. I use “double drop D” tuning on this.
